Time for a Change?

Hey, it's official. All the Change books are back!

I'm thrilled to announce that Loose Id has published my previously released books. Each have been refined and re-edited, and they are sharper and more fun than ever.

Johnny and Grissom are once again burning up the pages in A Change of Tune, available as of June 3rd.

Drew and Ridge, from A Change of Pace, can be found in the omnibus volume called A Change of... , available June 10th. This book also contains A Change of Scenery, which features Con and Stephen. What a sweet deal - two for one!

I hope Change lovers will be glad to see the boys back. If you haven't tried them, give it a go. I think you'll be glad you did.

Is being an author work – or is it art?

Hmm.

Readers might consider a much-loved book to be an artistic creation of the author’s mind and imagination, the spinning of a tale that comes from profound or exotic inspiration, travels or experiences. When I was a kid and read books that opened up the world to me with adventure, romance, history, action, and more, I figured authors had to be a breed apart, individuals who had lived more than I could hope to, people who were well-educated, distinguished and so very much smarter than I was.

Mind you, I planned to get as smart and educated as they, but while reading their books, I settled back to enjoy learning about how people lived and loved in historic and modern England, how gunfighters were not always bad guys, and how Encyclopedia Brown could solve the trickiest mystery. And he was just a kid!

I always figured I could write as good or better a book as many that I read, but never quite got around to getting it done (beyond taking the huge leap to send in one MS to Harlequin back in the day).  Upon receipt of the (vastly-deserved) rejection, I threw that idea back in the closet.

It wasn’t until I found and got hooked on M/M around 2007 that I found a new reading love – one that pushed me to write, this time for real. The first three books just flowed out of me, which I found amazing. It wasn’t until I ran headlong into my first editor (I had an editor!) that I realized how much work went into crafting a book suitable for publication. And how rough my product was.

Suddenly I was looking at my brilliant creation as a work product, something that took a boatload of effort to get from its humble beginnings to a saleable item for which people would pay hard-earned money, and my book had to go through an entire process to ready it for the customer. As I’ve written more and changed publishers, the process has gotten even more professional, especially for me. Working with pros inspires me to become better, each time.

Ultimately, I’ve realized how much work goes into writing. Sitting down at the computer is just the beginning step. It takes discipline to write, especially when I’m not feeling very creative – so I like having deadlines. The support of the writing community is helpful, since writing in and of itself is a solitary venture.

Joining Loose Id has pushed me that much farther to excel, to do more and do it better. Having a supportive group of pros along the path makes it easier to turn my labor into my very own work of art.

Fantasy ficlet from guest blogger Nancy Griffis

Enjoy!

Bound

Mist lingered in the bog, but it always did. Marcus knew the pathways better than anyone; he'd grown up playing on the moors and cutting through the bog since childhood. No matter how many times his mother had warned him that he would get sucked into the eternal sands or sirened away by a will o'the wisp, he'd gone back time and again.
“Are you sure you know where we're going?”
The somewhat nervous words prompted a quickly hidden smile. Marcus looked back at the young nobleman and said with all seriousness, “I do, m'lord. You're safe as can be with me.”
Young though he was, just beyond his twentieth year if Marcus guessed rightly, the golden-haired man who trailed him was broadly built with the strength of a fighter. He also had eyes the color of a stormy sky. Marcus had always thrilled to eyes like that, but everyone he knew had the same green-brown as himself. It was the nobility, of course; even the color of their eyes was unusual and refined and Lord Liam Stoneson of Cliff Keep was no exception. There'd been more than a few late-night fantasies about his traveling companion since his hire, the ten years between them certainly not enough to discurage such thoughts.

Wolves, reading and Berengaria

Please welcome my guest, Berengaria Brown!

My name is Berengaria and I’m addicted to reading.

My father taught me to read when I was very young, and would never permit anyone to place boundaries on what I read. He always said if I understood what I was reading, there was no sense in preventing me from reading it, and if I didn’t understand it, there was no need to stop me reading it, since I wouldn’t understand it!

Consequently, I read a lot of books children my age had no idea even existed.

He even let me use his library card so I could take books out from the adult shelves at the library. Actually, by then I’d read all the children’s books anyway.

And now, since I read MM, FF, ménage and everything from sweet to extremely kinky, it’s not surprising that I write across all the genres too. But I do have a special love of MM. Who could resist a couple yummy werewolves?

Were the Hell? (available at Torquere Press)

Blurb Septimus, is sent to a pack across the country to see if they have a solution to why almost no females have been born into his pack in over 30 years.

As soon as he walks into the meeting room he smells his mate. The lust between them is instant and fierce. By day they try to solve the problem of the gender imbalance, by night they fuck each other's brains out.
Septimus finally gets a lead as to why there may be no females born in his pack. An old man, Arthur, remembers a wizard threatening to curse his pack. Septimus and Arthur speak to a very old woman, Richenda who gives them some trails to follow.

Septimus’ duty is to help his pack. But he’d much rather be in bed with Dai. And is the situation even solvable anyway?

Excerpt PG 13
Septimus had sometimes wondered if he'd only ever been sexually attracted to other males because there were so few younger females in his pack, and the few there were didn't light his fire. But the minute he walked into the meeting room with the weres from the Forest Hill pack, he knew he was genuinely, one hundred percent gay. He could smell his mate.

His cock stood up and fought to get out of his jeans, stretching the fabric so tight that he was going to have blue balls for a week. The tiny hairs on the back of his neck were also standing straight up. His skin tingled, electrified with sexual arousal. And the scent of his mate was overpowering him, dragging him into the room with almost physical force.

His nose led him unerringly to his mate: a tall, lean man of about thirty, with tanned brown skin, dark brown hair, and liquid chocolate eyes. Those eyes were staring at him, the man's strong nose was flared smelling his scent and from the huge bulge in his pale cargo pants, the man was every bit as aware of him as he was of Mr. Tall, Tan, and Delectable.

As Septimus walked across the room, his cock leading the way, the man moved to meet him. Their gazes were locked, and Septimus was totally oblivious to everyone else in the room and the task he'd been sent to do. He was about to put out his hand when the other man reached him and grabbed his shoulders, pulling him in for a hard, body-blending hug.

"I'm Dai. We're mates." The words were harsh, bitten off, said almost as a challenge.

"Septimus. I know."

The Alpha of the Forest Hill pack stood just a few feet away. He coughed, cleared his throat, then said, "Gentlemen, let's get this meeting underway. Dai, you should sit next to Septimus, not in your usual place."
So even the Alpha smelled their attraction. That certainly proved he was not being misled by his cock. Damn! His dick had never been this big before. If only he could undo his jeans and give it some room before it broke his zipper.
